I am very, very, very tired.
Believe it or not, I don’t spend all of my waking hours writing articles while sipping mango margs in my PJs. I have a day job, and my day job involves doing the work of several people, some of whom aren’t even in my department. Then I come home late and try to write something fun for you all to read before collapsing onto my laptop. Most of the time I’m successful! You know what helps?
Listen. Ignore the fact that it is 11pm. The fact that I’m even remotely awake right now is due to the awesomeness of power metal. It screams you awake, even if it doesn’t necessarily make you productive. It’s Red Bull for your ears, and it won’t make your heart explode (citation needed). If you are like me and need to stay awake just long enough to wrap up a project, just remember this weird old tip from an over-tired metalhead like myself: put some power metal in your playlist. I leave you some suggestions without further comment, because power metal is merely the CAFFEINE of music and not the cocaine. Good night!
One day, when I was sitting in my room listening to old school metal, I realized that there are quite a few songs from that era that are about how awesome metal is. Granted, metal WAS extreeeeemely awesome back then, so I can see why a bunch of people would be inspired by the environment around them, even if it’s kind of masturbatory to write odes to your own greatness. At any rate, I decided to compile a top ten list of all my favorite heavy metal anthems, partly because I love writing op-eds but mostly so that I had an excuse to sit around and listen to a bunch of old school metal all day.
