Nile: “What Should Not Be Unearthed” Album Review by Megan Elliott!

Support: There are some folks out there who might be of the opinion that the days of delivering evil technical death metal are drawing to a close for South Carolina’s Nile. Well, What Should Not Be Unearthed is their eighth studio album, and there are no signs that they are slowing down anytime soon. This latest installment is set to destroy souls. Opening with “Call to Destruction,” Nile pulls listeners out of their seats and thrusts them into a fiery pit in hell. Greeted by violent death metal riffage and Karl Sanders’ instantly-recognizable, deathly screams, it’s safe to say this album is going to be monstrous. What is immediately noticeable is that the guitars and vocals are significantly louder than the drums in the mix which is what makes this album even heavier than its predecessors. About two-and-a-half minutes in, the track slows down and in comes the groove. Nile drag listeners by the throat into next track, “Negating The Abominable Coils Of Apep,” which is simply another helping of filth before leading into “Liber Stellae – Rubaeae.” Drummer George Kollias’ relentless blasts and the chugging guitars whip up a frenzy, becoming more and more unbearable as the track gets faster and faster. Salvation arrives in the form “In The Name Of Amun” with an intro that is inclusive of a Middle Eastern arrangement before more spiralling death metal riffage, growled vocals and machine-gun-like drums assault the ears. Midway through, there’s a deafening guitar solo that seeps into the bloodstream and takes over. It is after this that the track takes a sinister turn as the instrumentals slow down and in comes...

Nile Releases “Call to Destruction” To The World!

Support: FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The wait is over, and a new Nile song is online! The legendary death metal band will be releasing “What Should Not Be Unearthed” August 28th via Nuclear Blast, and to say I’m excited would be the biggest understatement ever. These guys continue to push the boundaries of extreme metal with each album, and even after twenty years, it’s hard to find a band that even touches what these guys can do! Today they’ve released the lyric video for “Call to Destruction,” and it’s just as powerful as the song! Here’s the disclaimer: “This music video contains common everyday newsreel imagery illustrating the insanity and futility of war as a tragic result of the clash of ideologies. This video’s sole purpose is to bring attention to the wanton destruction of Artifacts in the middle east. Neither Nile nor Nuclear Blast endorse any political of religious agenda with this video; Nile as students of Egyptian History are concerned about the preservation of the cultures of all peoples of our Great Global Community.” Blast it below, and pre-order “What Should Not Be Unearthed” immediately! Nile To Release “What Should Not Be Unearthed” In August!

Support: OH HELL YES! The legendary Nile is currently wrapping up their new record, and now we know when it’s coming to crush our ear drums! Nile will be unleashing “What Should Not Be Unearthed” August 28th via Nuclear Blast, and to say I’m excited would be the biggest understatement ever. These guys continue to push the boundaries of extreme metal with each album, and even after twenty years, it’s hard to find a band that even touches what these guys can do! Plus, a new record means new tour dates coming soon, and there is NOTHING like Nile‘s show! Here’s what Karl Sanders said on the new material: “All of us in NILE are happy to announce our upcoming newest album, ‘What Should Not Be Unearthed’. It’s our eighth official album, and this time we believe we have a truly crushing disc to bring to metal fans. The focus this time around is on brutally heavy metal riffing and songwriting; kind of like of an ‘Annihilation Of The Wicked’ approach but very streamlined to achieve maximum destructive impact. Our last record, ‘At The Gates Of Sethu’, was super surgically clean and very ‘musicianship oriented’ whereas the new disc is a polar opposite; ‘Unearthed’ is aimed straight at utter metal heaviness and memorable songwriting. Although ‘Unearthed’ is still full of the kind of undeniable musicianship people have come to expect from NILE over the years, it’s the songs themselves that will hit listeners over the head this time around. These songs will be a blast to play live, and we are stoked at the opportunity to bring these songs to...
