RIK FOX GUEST PERFORMANCE WITH SPIDERS AND SNAKES TONIGHT AT LOADED

RIK FOX GUEST PERFORMANCE WITH SPIDERS AND SNAKES TONIGHT AT LOADED

Support: WOW! What a line-up for this upcoming show at LOADED in Hollywood TONIGHT! Headlining is legendary 1980′s veteran of world-tours, Warrior Muscle-Rocker, THOR celebrating the Deadline/Cleopatra Records release of his new CD/DVD package “ONLY THE STRONG” with all the heavy, steel-bending and hot water bottle exploding showmanship fury he brings to the stage. In direct–support is Los Angeles favorite, SPIDERS and SNAKES…and what a line up here! Fronted by the legend himself, LIZZIE GREY, founder and creator of the original Los Angeles glam-rock band LONDON (with Nikki Sixx), which, over the years, has evolved with many name-players among their ranks, splitting off and eventually morphing into today’s SPIDERS and SNAKES. The current show line-up consists of LIZZIE himself, surrounded by a massive band of super performers, mostly veterans of the Los Angeles rock scene, who’s top-notch showmanship and performance are second-to-none. Thoroughly entertaining is powerhouse skin-basher (and coincidentally, the V.P. of Cleopatra Records) TIM YASUI of both LONDON and ULTRA-POP. Tim is a Carmine Appice styled driving force behind the backbeat, who also sings lead with another veteran show-stopper and the reigning, shearing metal queen vocalist, BETSY of the L.A. Metal band (and Metal Blade recording artist) BITCH, who’ve packed the house since the 1980’s. BETSY is also sharing some lead and harmony vocal duties with LIZZIE, including covers of such great songs as, The Sweet’s ‘Ballroom Blitz’ and Alice Cooper’s ‘Be My Lover’. Ever the professional consummate powerhouse vocalist, BETSY will be belting it out for this show and the rehearsals have been nothing short of amazing and awesome! This is one TIGHT band. A very special guest filling...
MOTLEY CRUE – SHOUT AT THE DEVIL – FROM THE VAULT

MOTLEY CRUE – SHOUT AT THE DEVIL – FROM THE VAULT

Support: Today’s installment of From The Vault takes us back to 1983 and to Motley Crue’s second album “Shout at the Devil.” The album  is often regarded as the heaviest sounding Motley Crue album by both critics and fans with themes including sex, violence, drugs and rebellion. Side one begins with engineer Geoff Workman and Nikki Sixx’s narration for the introduction to Shout at the Devil: In the beginning, good always overpowered the evils of all man’s sins, but in time, the nations grew weak and our cities fell to slums, while evil stood strong. In the dusts of hell, lurked the blackest of hates,  for he whom they feared awaits you. Now many, many life times later lay destroyed, beaten down, only corpses of rebels, ashes of dreams and blood-stained streets. It has been written that those who have the youth, have the future. So come now children of the beast, be strong and Shout at the Devil. Shout at the Devil reached #17 on the 1983 Billboard 200 chart and the album had sold over 4 million copies by 1997. Motley Crue released Looks That Kill and Too Young To Fall In Love as singles in 1984 along with videos for each song that received heavy rotation on MTV. The album is also one of the first albums that contributed to the glam metal movement.     Upon re-release of Shout at the Devil on their own label, Motley Records, the band included some never before heard tracks including demos of Looks That Kill, Shout at the Devil, Hotter Than Hell (which was re-recorded and re-titled Louder Than Hell for Theater of Pain) and...

Support: Hope everyone enjoyed our April Fool’s, From The Vault….Kokomo is definitely not a blast from the past we would normally feature here. Thanks to She-Wolf for providing us with an April Fool’s laugh. Now for a real trip back to the 1980’s.   Today we take a trip back to 1988 to the album by a woman who always rocks as hard as the boys, Lita Ford and her self titled album, Lita. The album became one of Lita’s most successful albums and produced the hit singles Kiss Me Deadly and Close My Eyes Forever, her duet with Ozzy Osbourne. Produced by Mike Chapman (Blondie, The Knack), the track listing is as follows: Back to the Cave Can’t Catch Me Blueberry Kiss Me Deadly Falling in and Out of Love Fatal Passion Under the Gun Broken Dreams Close My Eyes Forever Can’t Catch Me was co-written with Lemmy Kilmister and keyboardist, David Erzin, while Falling In And Out Of Love was co-written with Nikki Sixx. Close My Eyes Forever is Lita’s most successful song to date reaching #8 on the Billboard Top 100. Lita went on hiatus for many years to tend to her family with former Nitro singer, Jim Gillette. She released her comeback album, Wicked Wonderland, her collaborative effort with Gillette in 2009. In 2011, as promised Lita went back to her roots for her new album, Living Like a Runaway, which became a very personal album that reflects on her split with Gillette, her children and her truce with her former Runaways bandmates. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SONGS ABOUT RAPE?

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SONGS ABOUT RAPE?

Support: Ladies and gentlemen, I have some alarming news for you. While browsing DarkLyrics.com, I discovered a terrifying fact: that approximately 100% of metal songs made in the ’80s are about rape. That percentage might seem high, but I assure you it is only mildly exaggerated. Whereas nowadays bands who write songs about rape tend to depict it as brutal and unpleasant (all the while expecting us to revel in its brutality and unpleasantness, which is a huge problem in and of itself), bands of the ’80s seemed to take a lighthearted, “boys will be boys” approach to it. I honestly can’t tell which is more gross. Take for example, Van Halen’s “Romeo Delight” from their 1980 album Women And Children First. And I quote, Baby, please! Can’t take it anymore I’m takin’ whiskey to the party tonight, and I’m looking for somebody to squeeze. I ain’t looking for somebody to fight Baby, don’t get uptight The rabbit hole goes much deeper than “Romeo Delight,” of course. While the, uh, “protagonist” of the song sounds like a pushy asshole, he doesn’t appear to make any outwardly rapey overtures. Telling an apparently reluctant/unwilling woman not to be uptight gives me some serious pause though. Poison’s “I Want Action” (form their 1986 debut Look What The Cat Dragged In) is a lot more direct. Long legs and short skirts These girls hit me where it hurts I can’t wait to get my hands on them I won’t give up until they give in Now, first of all, the long-legged short-skirted people in this song are schoolgirls, as is explicitly stated in...
