IKILLYA Announces Their “No Sleep Till Waffle House” Tour!

Support: Are you still kicking your own ass for missing our friends in IKILLYA when they came through your town last year? Don’t you worry! The bringers of true metal from right here in New York City are gearing up for their “No Sleep Till Waffle House” tour, and it’s coming to a city near you! As we’ve said many times on this site before, IKILLYA is as legit as any band out there, and deserve to have a packed house wherever they go! SO GO! Here’s what Jason Lekberg had to say on their upcoming run: “We love touring. When we’re not touring, we miss meeting all the awesome people and seeing the world, but what we may miss most of all, is Waffle House. Maybe it’s the exhaustion, or the copious amounts of Monster we drink, but Waffle House is like the North Star, leading us on. And, their prices fit our DIY, completely non-existent budget very nicely. “No Sleep Till Waffle House” is not just a tour name, it’s tour life.” Seriously, that’s the best tour name of all time. Metal, waffles, and friends! What more do you need? Check out the dates below, spread the word to everyone around you, and someone please send me some hashbrowns! Scattered, smothered, covered, and topped of course! 19-Jul – Holmdel, NJ – Warped Tour, PNC Bank Arts Center 25-Jul – Clifton, NJ – Dingbatz 1-Aug – NYC, NY – Saint Vitus Bar 28-Aug – Norfolk, VA – Poncho N’ Luigis 29-Aug – Fayetteville, NC – Rock Shop 31-Aug – Atlanta, GA – 529 1-Sep – Birmingham, AL –...
IKILLYA, Degradations, Lies Beneath, Harvester And Alekhine’s Gun Bid Farewell To The Trash Bar!

IKILLYA, Degradations, Lies Beneath, Harvester And Alekhine’s Gun Bid Farewell To The Trash Bar!

Support:   The New York and Atlanta scenes collided this past Saturday for one massive night of metal at one of the last shows ever at The Trash Bar in Brooklyn, and left no fan disappointed. Harvester and Degradations travelled up from Atlanta to bring their own Southern sound to the crowd, while IKILLYA, Alekhine’s Gun and Lies Beneath provided to powerful sound of New York to the packed venue. For myself, this night was extra special, because not only was it my birthday, but it was a chance to see five of my favorite bands together on stage, and it exceeded all expectations. Having Alekhine’s Gun open the show just proves how strong this lineup was that night. Throughout their crushing set, they threw down only as they know how, and they set the chaotic tone for the rest of the evening perfectly. As Harvester stepped on stage “to show how they do it in the South,” fans were excited to hear their sound, and by the third song, the pit was opened up, the crowd surfing began, and even the ceiling fell apart to the power on stage. Not to the be outdone, Lies Beneath pummeled everyone’s ear drums with one of their best sets I’ve ever seen. With a surprise Killer Be Killed cover in during their show, they truly took over that venue for forty-five minutes, and it was only halfway through the night. As Degradations kicked into their music, the audience was still in a frenzy, and their heavier than heavy riffs ripped the venue apart, and even blew out power for a few...
IKILLYA, Degradations, Alekhine’s Gun, Harvester And Lies Beneath Set To Destroy Brooklyn On March 14th!

IKILLYA, Degradations, Alekhine’s Gun, Harvester And Lies Beneath Set To Destroy Brooklyn On March 14th!

Support: Who’s ready to throw down one last time at The Trash Bar in Brooklyn? As we all know, the venue will be moving from it’s historic location soon, but not before we throw one last MASSIVE show! Over the past few years I’ve celebrated my birthday with a local show in whatever city I’m in, and this is going to be the most insane show EVER. Not only do we have three of the most well known bands in New York playing on the same stage, but two bands from Atlanta are coming to throw down as well! It’s a dream come true! Lies Beneath, Alekhine’s Gun and IKILLYA are staples of the New York City metal scene, and for one night only, they are performing together at the same venue. Each band is well known for putting on memorable and neck breaking performances, but never in the same night!! Just in case that’s not enough to get ya there, Degradations and Harvester from Atlanta are travelling up to annihilate the audience, and represent my hometown in the best way possible! Everyone in Atlanta knows the crushing insanity of these two bands, and it’s going to be a blast watching the NYC crowd react to it! The pit will not be for the weak on this night! Oh, and did I mention an “Open Bar” from 8pm-9pm?! Did I mention it’s ONLY $10?! Did I mention an after party at Duff’s Brooklyn?! IT’S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! The word is already spreading, and The Trash Bar will fill up quick! Mark March 14th on your calendars, prepare...
Sam Roon’s Top Ten Metal Albums Of 2014!

Sam Roon’s Top Ten Metal Albums Of 2014!

Support: Wait… is 2014 already over?  What the fuck just happened?  I feel like this year just started and we’re already shovelling snow and talking about what tours we want to see in 2015.  This year may have passed quickly, but it was not without some fantastic records being contributed by a few of my favorite bands, and some bands I didn’t expect. No. 10: Judas Priest, Redeemer of Souls Judas Priest fans took to the band’s 2014 release of “Redeemer of Souls” with mixed emotions and for reasons I can’t understand.  This record is the band getting back to the core of what they are good at; writing solid heavy metal songs and being creative without compromising their sound. I was a fan of the “Nostradamus” record and I’m a fan of “Redeemer of Souls.”  ‘Haters gonna hate’ as the kids say, but I am going to stand by the Priest on this one and I think anyone looking for some old-school, in-your-face heavy metal will love this record.  Check it out for yourself. No. 9: Revocation, Deathless This band is one of the most exciting active groups out there right now in my opinion and I think they’re doing something particularly special.  Revocation is a hard-working, creative band that has a lineup of skilled players and high-energy performers that makes their live shows particularly brutal and their albums unique.  It’s really a win across the board and so it’s no surprise that “Deathless” would be a fantastic record. This is an album that I consider a “must have” for anyone who likes aggressive music.  If you haven’t heard any “Deathless” music...
