Dave Mustaine Gives A New Update On The New Megadeth Album!

Support: As the whole metal world knows by now, Megadeth is currently writing their fifteenth studio album, and I can’t wait to hear the new material. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited to hear new Megadeth music, but once I heard that they added Chris Adler and Kiko Loureiro into the mix, I was automatically stoked! While you can still get exclusive updates from the band on their Pledge Music Page, we have a brand new update from Dave Mustaine today! Megadeth‘s front man discusses the tracks, the sound of the new music, and a tentative release time in a new interview with Rolling Stone! Check out our favorite excerpts from the legend below, and read the entire interview at Rolling Stone now! Rolling Stone: How far along are you with the new record? Dave Mustaine: “We have 15 tracks — 13 originals and two cover songs. We did “Melt the Ice Away” by Budgie and “Foreign Policy” by Fear. At this point, the drums are all done and Chris [Adler] is back home. Kiko finished all his rhythms and he’s now doing solos. He’s an amazing musician, very well-rounded. He did a lot of acoustic stuff, both steel-string and nylon-string, and he played a little piano at the end of a song called “Poisonous Shadows.” It’s a really haunting piece, and the part that he played is very Chopin-meets-Megadeth, if that makes sense.” Rolling Stone: In addition to “Poisonous Shadows” are there any other song titles you can give us at this point? Dave Mustaine: “There’s a song called “The Emperor Has No Clothes,”...

Kiko Loureiro Officially Joins Megadeth!

Support:   It’s an exciting time for Megadeth fans everywhere! After weeks of rumors, they finally confirmed on Sunday that Chris Adler would be playing drums on their upcoming record, and as he said, “Get ready for a very exciting chapter in the MEGADETH legacy!” On Tuesday, Dave Mustaine tweeted that they are “almost done” writing the highly anticipated new album, and now we have another HUGE update from the heavy metal legends! Kiko Loureiro has officially joined Megadeth! Here’s what Dave Mustaine had to say on the new guitarist: “I first met Kiko around 8 years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then I’ve come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I’m deeply encouraged by his depth and talent. Very few Megadeth alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko. As Frank Sinatra says, “the best is yet to come!” Check out a clip of Kiko Loureiro shredding below, and get stoked! With Chris and Kiko on the record, I expect nothing but greatness from the new Megadeth music! Bring it on! Via Megadeth.com Support: Have you seen these yet? What keeps Dave Mustaine going: “For me, wanting to be the best is something that has driven me for a very long time. And wanting to be the biggest band in the world… well, that’s not gonna happen. But having some self-respect, being able to know that there aren’t very many people that can do what you do…that’s cool.” On early Metallica: “There was a feeling that James and I had when we would stand next to each other and play. I think people saw that there was a real brotherhood there. We were a really great guitar duo.” His accomplishments so far: “Megadeth’s music and myself, we’re just a testimony of being victorious. When you look at everything that’s happened, where this has all come full circle right now — making money, doing the wine. Top 10 Metal Stories Of 2014 On SkullsNBones!

Top 10 Metal Stories Of 2014 On SkullsNBones!

Support: There is no question that 2014 was one of the biggest years in heavy music in a very long time. From the death of one of the most iconic individuals ever to step foot on a stage, to legendary bands releasing some of the best material they’ve ever created, this year has shown that the heavy music world still has a very real and relevant impact on the daily lives of most metalheads. For the first time I felt there was so much happening in a year that I would actually be able to put together a list of stories that were the most impactful on the scene and on our site. I left my opinion out of the list making and relied purely on statistics and what came out of it is a list that makes complete sense. More than making sense, this list is cool because it’s like ‘viewers choice awards’ without knowing that you were voting… you clicked the links and those were your votes. Below are definitely some of the defining moments of the year for metal. Grab a glass of whisky and a cold beer and enjoy the Top 10 Stories of 2014: 10. DAVE BROCKIE AKA ODERUS URUNGUS MEMORIAL SERVICE AND VIKING FUNERAL FOOTAGE IS HERE! Anything I could say about the passing of the great Oderus would be an understatement, but we all know it was a huge black mark on the life of heavy music. The world lost one of the most creative people of our time. I hate that a memorial has a place in this list, but it’s...
WEEKLY ROUNDUP

WEEKLY ROUNDUP

Support: Today is the first day of December and the official start of the holiday season. Let’s start the month with the latest in the metal community.   KISS PLAYS MACY’S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE Last Thursday (11/27), KISS performed at Macy’s 88th Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. There was a lot of talk after the performance however, including frontman, Paul Stanley tweeting that the band was screwed over and fans saying the band missed their lines when lip syncing their classic hit, Rock and Roll All Night. Gene however, told Page Six of The New York Post that he was proud to be a part of the parade and did everything he could to keep his tongue in his cheek. Check the performance out for yourself below:     DAVE MUSTAINE’S MOTHER-IN-LAW’S BODY FOUND   Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine’s 73 year old mother-in-law, Sally Estabrook, who has been missing since October 4th, was found dead by a maintenance worker last Wednesday (November 26th). Estabrook, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s walked away from the campground where she lived with her husband. Our condolences to Dave and his family for their loss.   FORMER LILLIAN AXE GUITARIST PASSES AWAY Jon Ster, who was one of the original members of the 80’s band Lillian Axe passed away this past weekend. SANCTUARY – REFUGE DENIED

SANCTUARY – REFUGE DENIED

Support: Today I’m on a Sanctuary kick so I decided to take a trip back to 1988 to the debut album from the Seattle band. Produced by Megadeth guitarist Dave Mustaine, this album is considered a thrash metal classic and one of my all time favorite metal albums. The title song Battle Angels grabs you immediately and leaves you wanting more and showcases singer Warrel Dane’s high pitched vocals throughout the album. The track listing for Refuge Denied is as follows: BattleAngels Termination Force Die For My Sins Soldiers Of Steel Sanctuary White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane Cover) Ascension To Destiny The Third War Veil Of Disguise Only 7,000 copies on of the album were printed on vinyl. When the album was later released on CD, the tracks had been reordered which was common when CDs were first starting to hit the market. The band lineup for Refuge Denied is: Warrel Dane – vocals Lenny Rutledge – guitar Sean Blosl – guitar Jim Sheppard – bass Dave Budbill – drums This is a definite must for your metal collection. Sanctuary, who recently reunited in 2010, have recently released their new studio album, The Year The Sun Died and will tour around the US in November! Scott Ian Recalls Dave Mustaine Being Kicked Out Of Metallica In This “I’m The Man” Excerpt!

Scott Ian Recalls Dave Mustaine Being Kicked Out Of Metallica In This “I’m The Man” Excerpt!

Support: Get excited! Legendary Anthrax guitarist, Scott Ian, will be releasing his autobiography, “I’m The Man,” on October 14th via Da Capo Press! What can we expect? Scott previously said, “I don’t know what you would call my story genre, but it’s more about coming from nothing and being able to do all that I have done. I think it’s about being able to show anybody that no matter where you come from, whether you’re a scrawny kid from Queens [New York], you do have the opportunity to make something of yourself. I am the living proof of that. And you don’t have to take the normal road that’s portrayed in these books. You don’t have to take the MÖTLEY CRÜE road.” The book promises numerous stories from the rise of Anthrax, and we’ll get an inside look at the 80’s thrash scene like never before! He lived it, he breathed it, and now we’ll get to learn all about it from Scott himself! Just to get you more excited for the release, Radio.com has posted a excerpt from the book about his memory of Dave Mustaine being kicked out of Metallica, and you can read it below! THIS IS AWESOME STUFF! Pre-order “I’m The Man” here! “It was New Year’s Eve 1980, and we had a big party at my friend Richie Herman’s house. He lived on the first floor of our building, and his dad was always out of town, so we had fifty or sixty people at his house to celebrate my birthday. I went nuts. I’d been drinking before, but now I was almost legal....
