This week’s Hail Of The Week belongs to a band from Brooklyn, NY called The Cosmos. Formed by Noah on guitars and Nat on bass, who both share an intense love of for progressive rock and metal bands including Porcupine Tree, Opeth, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Mastodon and Rush. Singer/drummer Andrew was found after a long search to find the missing link. Previously Andrew had been the drummer in an alternative rock/metal band from Novosibirsk (in Siberia), Russia. Andrew has the unique talent of being able to sing and scream while playing the drums at the same time. The lineup was finalized and Andrew was exactly who Noah and Nat were looking for to complete the band.
Over the course of a year of playing with the full band, The Cosmos have written more than two cd’s worth of material, recorded their first EP and have been playing shows in NYC, Brooklyn, Jersey and Connecticut venues, such as Trash Bar, Sullivan Hall, Europa, National Underground, The Loop Lounge and Fiddlers Green to name a few. The Cosmos’ sound is hard to describe. It is experimental and progressive yet still accessible, heavy, driving and yet still melodic. The Cosmos like to employ odd time signatures, complex rhythms and intricate guitar lines.
