SHE-WOLF’S PRE-TUSKA PLAYLIST

Support: I’m leaving for Finland on Wednesday to attend the Tuska festival, which begins on the 26th. I could not be more stoked, despite my usage of neutral punctuation. Because I enjoy torturing myself, I decided to make a playlist of a bunch of bands I have to wait FOUR WHOLE DAYS to see (first world problems, I know). If you’re going to the festival — which is not sold out, by the way — think of this as a preview for the awesomeness to come. If you don’t plan on going to Tuska this year, think of this as a reason to start saving up for 2016. Either way, enjoy my playlist below and/or (mostly) on Spotify! Support: Have you seen these yet? HEIDEVOLK SAYS GOODBYE TO LONG-TIME VOCALIST AND GUITARIST

Support: Because there simply has not been enough heartache lately, it’s been announced that vocalist Mark “Splintervuyscht” Bockting and guitarist Reamon “Bomenbreker” Bloem are leaving Dutch folk metal band Heidevolk. Splintervuyscht and Bomenbreker released individual statements via the Heidevolk Facebook page: Reamon: After twelve fantastic years I am announcing my departure from Heidevolk. I would like to express my gratitude to the fans around the world for all their support over the years: you are amazing. I would also like to thank the Heidevolk members and crew (past and present): it has been a honour working and partying with you. I am proud of what we have achieved over the years. This is an extremely difficult decision for me to make, but the last year my heart hasn’t been in it 100% anymore. I strongly believe that when you’re part of a band you have to give it 100% or don’t do it at all. What will the future have in store? I’ve been working on a project for a while now. It’s going to be heavy and manly as f*ck! I’ll keep you posted about that. Thank you all. I am going to miss your fantastic response during and after our live shows. That I am certain. Mark: After nearly 12 years of parties, beer and adrenaline kicks I’ve decided to leave Heidevolk. Mainly because I cannot combine the band with my new day job, but also because I’ve noticed that the last couple of years my taste in music differs from the other band members. I would like to thank everyone who supported Heidevolk, the bands we’ve...

IN SOLITUDE ANNOUNCES SPLIT

Support: Just one day after myGRAIN announced that they would not continue together as a band, Swedish heavy metallers In Solitude released a statement that they too were ending their run. In Solitude, which formed in 2002 and was signed by Metal Blade Records in 2010, released their third full-length album Sister in 2013 and headlined a European tour late last year. “Changes in our personal lives demanded that we treated this as carefully as we could and with our deepest respect and reverence for all personal feelings, and for the aim of our journey,” said the band in their joint statement. MYGRAIN CALLS IT QUITS

Support: Photo credit: Timo Honkanen. Unfortunately this is not an April Fool’s joke. The Finnish melodic death metal band released a lengthy statement regarding their decision not to continue, citing the stress of releasing their latest album Planetary Breathing as something of a catalyst. “It isn’t fun nor inspiring anymore,” reads an excerpt. “If you can’t put your heart on the songs anymore, it is time to move on.” The full statement can be found on Facebook. Unfortunately for non-Finnish fans, myGRAIN won’t have a farewell tour, but rather they’ll play select shows on May 2 at Pietarsaari’s Kaupunginhotelli and May 8 at Helsinki’s Nosturi. The rest of us will have to mourn from home. Support: Have you seen these yet? No related...

FREDRIK ANDERSSON LEAVES AMON AMARTH

Support: According to a statement made by Swedish Viking metal band Amon Amarth earlier today, long-time drummer Fredrik Andersson has decided to leave the band. The brief statement reads as follows: Amon Amarth and drummer Fredrik Andersson have decided to part ways after 17 years. Fredrik has been an important part of Amon Amarth’s development since he joined the band in 1998 and we wish him all the best for the future. We are currently in the process of writing the new album, but at the moment there is no replacement for him. No additional details are available (yet?), and Andersson himself has not commented via his own channels. Here’s hoping the split was more amicable than it currently seems.
